An AJAX request, or Asynchronous JavaScript and XML request, is a method used in web development to send and retrieve data from a server asynchronously without requiring a page refresh. AJAX is often used in dynamic web applications to load data dynamically without the need to refresh the entire page. AJAX requests are typically initiated by JavaScript code running on a web page and are sent to a web server using the HTTP or HTTPS protocol. The server responds with the requested data in a format such as JSON or XML, which can then be used to update the web page in real-time.
