Lecture 271:- SQL & NoSQL Databases

SQL and NoSQL are two different types of databases used for storing, managing, and retrieving data.

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that stores data in tables and uses SQL for querying the data. It's best suited for handling structured data and is widely used for storing financial and transactional data.

NoSQL (Not only SQL) is a non-relational database management system that stores data in a more flexible, non-tabular format. It's best suited for handling unstructured data and is widely used for storing big data, real-time data, and social media data.

NoSQL databases have the following types:

  1. Document databases: These store data as JSON-like documents and allow nested data, which makes them flexible for handling complex data.
  2. Key-value databases: These store data as key-value pairs, where the key is a unique identifier for the data.
  3. Column-family databases: These store data in column families, where each column family is a container of related data.
  4. Graph databases: These store data in nodes and edges, which make them well suited for handling complex relationships between data.
