Lecture 144:- Splice function

The splice() function is a built-in JavaScript method that allows you to modify an array by removing or replacing existing elements, and/or adding new elements to the array.

The splice() method can be called on an array and takes in three arguments:

  1. The index at which to start changing the array.
  2. The number of elements to remove from the array.
  3. The elements to add to the array, if any.

Here is an example usage of splice():

javascriptCopy code

let myArray = ['apple', 'banana', 'orange', 'pear']; myArray.splice(1, 2, 'kiwi', 'grape'); console.log(myArray); // ['apple', 'kiwi', 'grape', 'pear']

In this example, splice() is called on myArray, starting at index 1 and removing two elements ('banana' and 'orange'). It then adds 'kiwi' and 'grape' to the array, resulting in the modified array ['apple', 'kiwi', 'grape', 'pear'].

Note that splice() modifies the original array in place and returns the removed elements as a new array. If no elements are removed, splice() returns an empty array.
