Lecture 267:- Query & String Parameters - Details
Query and String Parameters are often used to send data between the client and server in web applications. They are commonly used in GET requests to provide additional information about the request or to filter the response data.
Query Parameters are a set of key-value pairs that are appended to the end of the URL after a ? sign. For example, in the URL http://example.com/search?q=JavaScript, q is the key and JavaScript is the value. Multiple query parameters can be added by separating them with an ampersand &.
String Parameters are also a set of key-value pairs, but they are included in the request body and sent with a POST request. They are not visible in the URL like query parameters.
In Express, query parameters can be accessed using the req.query object, while string parameters can be accessed using the req.body object. However, to use the req.body object, the body-parser middleware needs to be installed and included in the application. The body-parser middleware is used to parse the request body and make it available as a JavaScript object.
Overall, query and string parameters are useful for customizing requests and filtering responses. They can be used in a variety of ways, such as for search queries, sorting and filtering data, and providing additional context to the server.
