Lecture 73:- Pseudo Elements

  • CSS pseudo-elements are used to style specific parts of a document, but are not actual HTML elements. They are specified with a double colon syntax (::) followed by the name of the pseudo-element.

The following are some common pseudo-elements in CSS:

    1. ::before - inserts content before the content of an element
    2. ::after - inserts content after the content of an element
    3. ::first-letter - styles the first letter of an element
    4. ::first-line - styles the first line of an element
    5. ::selection - styles the text that is selected by the user
    6. ::backdrop - creates a backdrop that can be used for modal dialogs and similar content.

Note: CSS pseudo-elements were introduced with a single colon syntax (:) in CSS1 and CSS2, but in CSS3 a double colon syntax was introduced to differentiate them from pseudo-classes.
