Lecture 382:- Introduction - New Relationships In Databases

In databases, relationships define how tables are connected and interact with each other. The most common types of relationships in relational databases are:

  1. One-to-One Relationship: In a one-to-one relationship, one record in a table is linked to one record in another table. For example, each employee has only one Social Security number.
  2. One-to-Many Relationship: In a one-to-many relationship, one record in a table can be linked to many records in another table. For example, one customer can have many orders.
  3. Many-to-Many Relationship: In a many-to-many relationship, many records in one table can be linked to many records in another table. For example, one student can take many courses, and one course can be taken by many students.

To establish these relationships, we use primary and foreign keys. Primary keys are unique identifiers for each record in a table, while foreign keys are used to create links between tables.

Understanding how to create and manage relationships in databases is crucial for building complex and scalable applications.
