Lecture 248:- Template Engines - What

Template engines are libraries that allow dynamic generation of HTML or other web content using templates with placeholders and control structures. They allow developers to create reusable templates for dynamic content and reduce the amount of code needed to generate a web page.

Instead of writing HTML and JavaScript code manually for each web page, template engines allow developers to define a structure once, and then use it to generate many different pages by substituting dynamic data. They also support the use of control structures such as loops, conditionals, and template inheritance, which make it easier to create dynamic content.

Some popular template engines for Node.js and web development in general include:

  • Handlebars
  • EJS (Embedded JavaScript)
  • Pug (formerly known as Jade)
  • Mustache
  • Nunjucks
  • Twig
