Lecture 123:- Intro to JavaScript
JavaScript is a high-level, dynamic programming language that is widely used to create interactive client-side web pages and web applications. It is also used on the server-side through technologies such as Node.js. JavaScript was created by Brendan Eich while he was working at Netscape Communications Corporation in 1995. Initially, it was designed to add interactivity to web pages in a browser, but over the years it has evolved into a versatile language that is used in many different environments.
JavaScript is an object-oriented language that supports prototypal inheritance, which is different from classical inheritance used in languages like Java or C++. JavaScript is a loosely typed language, which means that data types are determined dynamically at runtime. It has many built-in functions and methods, and it also supports functions as first-class objects, which means that functions can be assigned to variables, passed as arguments to other functions, and returned as values from functions.
JavaScript can be used to manipulate the Document Object Model (DOM) of an HTML page, which allows developers to add, remove, or modify elements and content on a web page. It can also be used to interact with web APIs, make network requests, and perform calculations and data manipulation.
JavaScript is supported by all major web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, and it has become an essential tool for web developers. With JavaScript, you can create dynamic and interactive web pages, build web applications, and even create mobile and desktop applications using technologies like React Native and Electron.
