Lecture 120:- Git - Multiple Teams - Forking

When working with multiple teams on a Git project, forking is a common practice to allow for collaboration and contribution from various individuals or teams. Forking creates a copy of the original repository, which can then be modified and updated independently from the original repository.

Here are the general steps for forking a repository:

  1. Navigate to the repository you want to fork on GitHub
  2. Click on the "Fork" button in the top right corner of the page
  3. Select the account or organization you want to fork the repository to
  4. Once the forking process is complete, clone the repository to your local machine
  5. Make changes to the code as needed and commit your changes to your forked repository
  6. When ready, create a pull request to the original repository to merge your changes.

If multiple teams are working on the same project, each team would fork the repository to their own account or organization and make changes to their respective copies. Changes could then be shared between teams by creating pull requests and merging them into the original repository. Communication between teams would also be necessary to ensure that changes don't conflict with each other and to keep everyone up to date with the latest changes.
